Accessibility

What has been done, what is known to be unfinished, and how to tell us it is not working for you.

Not finished — the club still has to supply:

the club’s registered postal address
the name and email of whoever handles data protection questions
how long hire enquiries are kept before deletion

Until these are filled in, this page is a draft and should be checked by someone who can speak for the club before the site goes public.

What we aim for

WCAG 2.2 level AA. A club website is read by the whole parish, including people using a screen reader, people who cannot use a mouse, and people reading a fixture on a phone in bright sunlight at the side of a pitch.

What has actually been done

Every text colour on the site is measured against the surface behind it, by a script that reads the stylesheet, and the build is checked against it. The headline over the photograph on the home page is measured against the photograph itself.
Every page works from the keyboard alone, and focus is always visible.
A skip link jumps straight to the content.
Light and dark are both designed, not inverted. Printing forces a clean light sheet.
Animation is only ever declared for people who have not asked their device for reduced motion. If you have, nothing moves — the effects are not shortened, they are never switched on.
Tap targets on phones are at least 44px.
Decorative images and icons are hidden from screen readers rather than described.

What is not finished

The site has not been tested with a real screen reader by somebody who uses one daily. Automated checks and keyboard testing are not the same thing.
The gallery is a placeholder. When real photographs go in, each one needs a description written by whoever took it.
